Getting married soon? Congratulations! Preparing for a wedding is such an exciting time. It can also be very overwhelming...
Pre-Marital Counseling is for couples who are engaged to be married.
Two families coming together, planning, and time constraints can become very stressful. Pre-marital counseling can help you slow down for a moment, de-stress, and enjoy your time with your fiancé. It also helps couples know their partner on a more intimate level. Going to pre-marital therapy can help identify potential problem areas in your marriage before they even become an issue. Did you know that participating in pre-marital counseling can reduce divorce rates by 30%?!
When seeing couples who are preparing for marriage, I use an assessment tool called PREPARE. PREPARE is a relationship assessment tool that is used to help promote successful marriages. Couples fill out a questionnaire individually online (about 30-45 minutes) and then meet with me for about 3-6 sessions to discuss the results. This assessment will help you:
- Identify strength and growth areas
- Explore personality traits
- Strengthen communication skills
- Resolve conflict and reduce stress
- Compare family backgrounds
- Discuss financial issues
- Establish personal, couple, and family goals
Pre-marital counseling is one of the best investments you can make for your relationship. Many of the tools and insight you gain from seeing a therapist before getting married, can also be applied throughout your relationship. It provides guidance and direction even before potential issues arise!
